Oswald Rolling Or Moving Eyes Clock Wooden Cat Marked Oswald Germany Circa 1930 :
Oswald Rolling Eyes Clock. Marked Germany only and is a wooden case in the figure of a Cat. Runs and keeps time. The research I have done stated that the clocks made after about 1940 were the pressed wood type much like the sirocco items of the 1940's and 50's. This one is solid wood as stated--the only defects I see is paint loss to the top of the left ear and also the left paw. The back of the brass works read "Oswald Germany No (0) Jewels unadjusted". There has been a little concern over the term solid wood. One writer said it is "composite material" the other said it was cast from "plaster of paris" I don't know for sure but what I do know is I have a black J. Oswald cat or kitten cat that is very cute.
