This miniature canteen has been in my collection for over 30 years. Due to circumstances, it is time for it to find a new home. This is a Red Wing made mini canteen, circa early 1900\'s. In black under the glaze lettering it says ROBINSON\'S BAR/ TAFT, CAL. On the reverse side it says NOT THE ARMY CANTEEN. I am sure that this meant that this canteen giveaway contained whiskey, and not what you would usually find in an army canteen. It is about 3 1/8\" tall, not including the cork, and about 2 1/2\" wide, not including the ears. It is in excellent, as the day it was made condition. The fragile little ears are perfect. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cork is original. I do not think the little leather strap is original, but it was on the canteen when I obtained it years ago so I left it on. This is an original Red Wing made piece that is a least 100 years, not one of those fakes that pop up on claiming to be original. A few years ago I contacted an appraiser for the Red Wing Stoneware Society. I sent him pictures of this piece, and he told me that this unmarked piece was, indeed, made by Red Wing, as it had been recorded as being made in the early 1900\'s. I don\'t remember the exact year of production, but it was definitely Red Wing made. At that time he appraised this piece at $1200 - $1800. Priority postage, including insurance, will be $15.00.
