This is the nicest WW2 photo album I have ever seen! The pictures posted below represent only a portion of this album!
Album is named to G.T. Borgeson, Company C, First Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division.
Approx. 430 photos, including a photo of Borgeson receiving a medal, 22 Quantico personal photos 1940, 29 Cuba and Puerto Rico personal photos, 58 Parris Island personal Photos, 45 Western Samoa personal photos 1942, 22 Cape Gloucester personal photos, 95 Australia personal photos 1943, 60 combat photographer photos of Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, 6 Japanese troop photos.
Included are 6 captured Flag photos, 10 tank crew photos, photos of Hawaiian women, naked native girls, also a nice short snorter, a great anti-U.S. propaganda leaflet dropped by the Japanese on Australian troops, names and addresses of buddies dated 1940.
There are two great bulletins:
"To be circulated at once to all hands. If conditions permit we will go to Guadalcanal tonight. Cruisers and destroyers arriving about 0500 and transports about 0600 the eighteenth. We will depart at 20 hours without fail, and unloading must be pushed to the utmost speed. I depend upon each and every individual to do his best to strike another hard blow at the enemy by bringing this help to our brave marine comrades in the front lines. - Signed: Admiral Turner - LET'S GO!!! - F.F. Ferris, Commander, U.S.N. - Executive Officer."
The second bulletin is dated 24 December, 1942: "As Secretary of the Navy I want to send to you and to the men of your commands heartfelt congratulations on the distinguished and notable service you have rendered the country in the capture and defense of Guadalcanal X The Marine Corps has many brilliant pages in its history but none were more notable and brilliant than the pages you have written in the last few months X Every American has felt a deep dense of pride in what you have done X We shall cherish in memory the names of the men who have fallen and owe a debt of gratitude which we can never repay to the First Division of Marines X Frank Knox"
