Both the images and text are considered a full disclosure of condition.The listing is for a wonderful pair of 18th century French Chenets. The pair features Marie Antoinette on each, one with her down and the other with her hair tied back. The chenets are very decorative with many shapes and adornments. They measure 10 1/2\" high x 9 1/4\" wide x 3\" deep. One of them weighs 3.4 pounds and the other 3.3 pounds. There is the expected use wear on the back side. The decorative fronts show small marks due to age and use. We obtained these with the stickers shown in the photographs already attached to the back of one of the pieces. Although the sticker in photograph # 6 states \"circa mid 1700\'s,\" we believe these to be later, possibly early 1800\'s. There is what appears to be a makers mark on one as seen in the last photograph. It appears to read either g s c c, or more likely 95 CC ( Possibly 1795 and CC for the maker ). Marie Antoinette reigned as Queen of France and Navarre from 1774 till 1791, and Queen of the French from 1791 until 1792, when after a tumultuous life she was arrested for treason and the monarchy abolished. After a two day trial in 1793 Marie Antoinette was found guilty. She was executed by guillotine on October 16, 1793.
