PAIR RARE 19THc CHINESE EXPORT PITCHERS W/ HAND WROUGHT SILVER SPOUTS 1780-1840:

I am offering this pair of 19th c porcelain pitchers. Each is of a floral design with gold gilt. The overall design and color scheme is similar, but the flowers are different on each vase.Both spouts have been covered with hand wrought silver.This was common practice as the spouts were typically the first part of the pitcher to break. Because of the age,1780-1840, the pitchers do have some minor condition issues.One pitcher has a hairline crack that wraps under the edge of the base. It is approx. 1/4\" long. (see image) The opposite side has a horizontal crack at the top of the base.It is approx. 1 1/4\" long.It is visible in the second photo.The paint and the gilt are in very good condition. The detailing is crisp, and the colors are bright. The gilt on the top of the handles is worn.The silver spout is smooth on both pitchers except for a tiny scored scalloped edge.The second vase is in much better condition. It does not have any discernible cracks, chips, or crazing. There are slight imperfections in the glaze created during the firing in both pitchers.More photos are available upon request.
