This sale is for a PAIR of vintage (antique, really) Bronze/Wooden MERRIMAN BROTHERS SNATCH BLOCKS. They are magnificent constructions of Bronze, Brass and Mahogany. They are LARGE Number 4 1/2 sized Merrimans, probably the hardest of all to find. They are BIG BOAT GEAR for Schooners, Gaff Riggers and other large vessels. There are numerous photos showing their details and condition. Blocks have bronze sheaves for line up to 3/4\" inch. Stamped with the \'Merriman Bros. Boston\' markings, along with the number 4 1/2 (The Merriman Catalog number) and the shackles bear the number 3, absolutely original and as shipped. Minor manufacturing differences between the blocks. Blocks lock and latch SECURELY. Blocks measure about 8 3/4\" overall. The bronze has a beautiful burnished surface. The wood cheeks are nicely varnished- These are HANDSOME constructions that will look great in the cabin when they aren\'t being used. These MASSIVE Snatch blocks can be used for a MULTITUDE of sailing or cruising applications- Rigging a quick purchase, setting the sheet lead on jib or spinnaker. Rigging a quick down or outhaul.
