PAUL STORR Solid Silver TABLE FORK 1815 Hallmarked Sterling GEORGIAN OE NR
LONDON: Paul Storr - SUPERB & VERY RARE - 2+ troy oz.
This is a lovely rare GEORGIAN solid sterling silver table fork or dinner fork which was made in London, England in 1815 by the illustrious silversmith Paul Storr at his Gray's Inn Road workshops. It measures almost 7 7/8" long and is 1" across its tines.It isin the Old English pattern. This fork weighs67.9 grams -almost 2 1/4troy oz. It is engraved to the rear of the handle with a detailed armorial crest.
It is in very good condition with just the usual surface scratching than you'd expect for its age and no dings or dents and less than the the usual wear to the tines - SUPERB. The fork is hallmarked on the reverse of the handle with PS, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), crowned leopard head, U, George III duty mark showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1815. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A rare Georgian table fork from the most illustrious of Georgian silversmiths, Paul Storr, in superb condition after almost200 years and at a very low start!!!!
