Pretty Pair C1880 French Old Paris Porcelain Vases Creil Montereau Barluet & Cie:
PRETTY PAIR C1880 FRENCH OLD PARIS PORCELAIN VASES CREIL MONTEREAU BARLUET & CIE is for a pair of really quite exceptionally pretty signed 19th century French old paris Montereau & Cie porcelain vases. The vases measure 17 ½ inches or 44.5 cm high, 8 ¼ inches or 21 cm wide, and are 5 ¼ inches or 13.5 cm deep.
The vases feature full length portraits of beautiful woman in long elegant dresses. They are depicted with excellent attention to detail; one woman has a magenta dress with a bouquet of flowers in her hand. The other vase shows a woman with flowers in her hair and a long flowing blue dress. They stand against a gold background with gold line designs. The vases have four scroll form feet which support the squared off body of the vases. The sides and backs of the vases feature panels green with raised foliate decorations. One is marked on the bottom with the impressed mark “MONTEREAU B & CIE 7”, this is for the French porcelain and Pottery Company Barluet & Cie who worked in Creil and was part of the Montereau makers.
The condition of vases is as follows; one is in excellent condition. The other with the woman in the blue dress has been completely restored at some point in its life. The repairs are quite good, but noticable when close up, this does not take away from the vases viewed as a pair. Please see the many photographs for more on the look and condition of this fine pair of French vases.
