A simply priceless, circa 1st millennium BC solid silver neck torc, a unique and premium museum grade example

Undoubtedly worn by a person of great importance

Near Eastern origin, old Persian, Scythian, weighing an incredible 765 grams and measuring 16 cm, 6.25 inches across

This unique neck torc has had some restoration work to hold the 3 huge bands together and is a display item, to be handled and displayed with the respect it deserves

The idea of the Torc was a borrowing from the east, and certain Celtic specimens suggest ultimate Persian exemplars

A torc is a large, usually rigid, neck ring typically made from strands of metal twisted together. The great majority are open-ended at the front, although many seem designed for near-permanent wear and would have been difficult to remove. Torcs are found in and other cultures of the European Iron Age from around the 8th century BC onwards
