Here's a museum quality 1878 H.T. Anthony pedestal stereoscope made of a rich walnut. All original finish with a lovely patina on the walnut hood. Difficult to capture the beauty of the grain in the photos. Anthony purchased the 1863 stereoscope patent from Wheeler & Bazin in 1878 and had the patent re-issued in their name. The patent dates are blindstamped into the end of the slide support. Anthony formed a partnership with W.H. Lewis in the late 1870's in which Anthony secured the patents and marketed the viewers and Lewis manufactured them. The groove in the bottom of the support arm is exclusively Lewis's design.
