A young person with an interest in art pottery and Moderne design would be well advised to consider both German and Belgian creations from the beginnings of the Art Deco Movement through the building of the Berlin Wall. The incredible variety of glazes alone will hold the interest of all but those with the attention span of an inbred gnat. Moreover, works by many potters of the period are grossly undervalued in today's market, a condition not likely to last much longer. I’m just sayin’.
Both the pieces presented here are in perfect condition. Each stands 7 ¾” tall.
They are a whole lot nicer in person than in my photos. I had a serious argument with my camera this morning. You’ll be way, way tickled when you see (and feel) them in person.
Each is marked “311 - B - GERMANY.” Since web pages are starting to form around this period of pottery, a little time hopping around the Net should pay off. I’ll bet you can identify the maker. My time is limited. Playing fetch with Huckleberry the Wonder Pup, napping and wandering aimlessly around the property talking with squirrels keeps me pretty busy.
The white speck on the bottom of one vase is simply a small crumb of clay borrowed from another pot in the kiln. It is not damage, and it does not impact the value in any way.
More images and commentary continue below my three "Prime Directives:"
1st: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and rarely do I ask for an opening offer of more than $9.00 (sometimes even less).
2nd: I never end sales early.
3rd: I don’t usually clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to expose any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun.
“Love this pair of vases, you will.” – (Thank you, Yoda!)
I’ve used the same guarantee since the day I started selling on 15 years ago: “If, for any reason you aren't totally thrilled, just send them back for a full refund.”
GOOD LUCK, and with you may the force be.
Dang it! I wish he’d leave; the dirty little thing.
“Heard that, I did. If allow me to use your shower, you will, go get cleaned up, I will.”
My preferred method of payment is PayPal.
