Pair Early Rare Museum Quality Antique Old Brass Banded Shabbat Judaica Menorahs For Sale
PAIR EARLY RARE Museum Quality Brass Banded SHABBAT
~ VERY FINE ~
Offered is a very fine early pair of rare, museum quality solid brass Shabbat Menorahs. Fresh from the estate of a Macon, Georgia doctor, this pair of very heavy brass Temple Menorahs is quite lovely. Each has a seven-branched lampstand reminiscent of those used in the ancient Tabernacle in the desert and Temple in Jerusalem, a symbol of Judaism since ancient times and the emblem of the modern state of Israel.
Flanked by beautifully “banded” details on the arms, the pair is in good estate condition with a nice old patina, and some minor earlier shouldering repairs (see photos) commensurate with age and respect for their prominence in being passed down among many generations.
One candlestick has a casting flaw, normal to the casting process (looks like a ding near the base—See photo). The green on the candle cup in the photos is old candle wax that is easily removed, while the green coloring on the bases is a natural patina to the old brass finish which may be cleaned if you desire. One menorah has what appears to be a hairline crack around the shaft, but it may just be a natural part of the casting process—I am not certain—but, it does not affect the sturdiness of the piece or the overall beauty whatsoever!
This fabulous pair of Menorahs measure an impressive 16 ½” tall and approximately 13” wide. This is without doubt the nicest old pair that I have seen in person! The pair would make a wonderful family heirloom or great and distinguishedset for Temple use.
