Pair Of Miniature Toy Staffordshire ~ Lions ~ Victorian Small Figures C1850 Nr For Sale
A Ferocious Pair of Staffordshire Miniature or Toy Lion Figures c1860
~ Matched Pair with Brown Manes ~
Both a little over 3" high ~ about 2 3/4" across the base
A pair of nicely colored Victorian Staffordshire lions molded on solid bases with relief of leaves beneath them, both enameled a naturalistic golden yellow with slightly different colored reddish brown manes and black facial details. One is lion nice but a facing pair is nicer!
In lovely display condition with some very, very minor exceptions shown below.
The figure on left has a very fine line on the back of his rump and another short one running up from the footrim on the left.
The left facing one has a white spot on his brow that could be paint or a fill in or original, I didn't want to poke it to tell... the very fine line under his chin is from firing not a crack.
the same figure has a small chip at the front footrim that doesn't show that badly when standing (see top pic.) The other brown spots are stray enamel paint.
The right facing figure has two very fine lines running horizontally, one through his back forward paw and the other at the front of the footrim, both can barely be seen at a foots distance.
