Pair Of Large19th Century French Bronze And Gilt-bronze Candelabra:
These are impressive in both size and quality ! Standing 33" tall, these French candelabra will make a statement on a grand dining table, or perhaps mounted on columtth cenh centuns flanking a doorway. They date to the first half of the nineteenth century, and are really good examples of the French Empire style, featuring reeded columns, gilt acanthus leaf detailing, lions' paw feet, etc etc...The casting quality and finely finished details are superb, as I've tried to illustrate in the photos- some seem to 'blow up' better than others on this listing, but there are enough to give a sense of the quality, I think. Lovely soft bronze patination contrasts well with bright gilding- these are about as good a pair of candelabra as you can find- just beautiful things, and proper full-on top quality. Far better than late- 19th century ones, with relatively crude casting. I can assist in organizing shipping and packing- I ship to U.S. buyers from Blaine, Washington state ( I am in Vancouver B.C.) Boxed up, they will be roughly 20" square by 36" tall each. Alternatively, they are designed to disassemble, the various pieces being built up onto a central interior threaded post. Feel free to ask specific questions, and further photos may be sent upon request. You may notice that while I have bought on for a number of years, this is one of my first selling listings. I deal in period furniture, and generally have used as a venue for buying stock, which I sell in my local area. For particularly rare or special items, I'm now trying as a means of tapping into a broader pool of clients.
