Later, upon an invitation from German court Goldsmith Emile Lettre, Bernard travelled with his brother to study in Berlin and subsequently, some years later, was made a Freeman of the Goldsmith's company in England in 1936 and a Liveryman in 1938. By now, he was selling very successfully indeed to a very wide range of clients and noteably, in the 1940's, started supplying Liberty's (London) as well as opening a retail outlet in Salcome, Devon. In 1953, Bernard moved the business to Solihull where his sons, John and Paul gradually took over.
