Parker Black Lucky Curve Fountain Pen - Senior Length, #2 Nib, Deluxe Cap Band :
This is a Black Parker Lucky Curve Pre- Duofold in almost the Senior length (5 1/4"), but Junior size barrel. I have put the pen beside a Big Red Parker Duofold Senior to give you an idea of the length.I would call this a 'Special' if it was the Duofold. The pen is in very clean shape - no brassing to the band or clip. The only real flaw worth reporting is the slight oxidation of the tassie, and the fact it will need to be resacked. The cap has the wider cap band, I have heard called 'Deluxe' but I can't confirm that. In fact I went through all my books trying to pin down exactly what model this is and the closest I can come seems to be a Lucky Curve model 22 from Lawrence's Official PFC Pen guide. This is a button filler which dates it after 1918 per Lambrou. The Lucky Curve emblem is very clear, and the nib is engraved 'Parker Lucky Curve Pen" with a large number '2'. Look at the pictures - pretty pen.
Update: Received a question about the flexibility of the nib - my answer:That is a tough one - as you probably know most Duofold nibs are pretty stiff and while this is not a Duofold, it appears to be its immediate predecessor. This nib is a bit more curved, like the old Waterman nibs, but isn't quite as flexible feeling as them, the curve and slimness reinforcing the nib, but the actual writing looks otherwise. I am giving you a sample, keeping in mind this is dipped rather than flowing as the pen has not been resacked, so it is possible the ink flow might be a bit looser. Also I am an upside down left handed writer, which might have a bit more influence on the line. To me the results look similar to my 20's Waterman nib, but will leave that decision up to the buyer. See final photo above.
