Parker Vacumatic Maxima, Burgundy Pearl, Early Speedline 1937, Restored For Sale
PARKER VACUMATIC MAXIMA, BURGUNDY PEARL, EARLY SPEEDLINE 1937, RESTORED
BEST COLOR, EARLY MAXIMA WITH STRIPED SECTION
Parker Vacumatic Maxima in burgundy pearl laminate with gold filled trim. This is the first year of the speedline filler -- it still had the striped section, which would disappear on subsequent Maximas, and it still had the large filler requiring an Oversize diaphragm. It also still has the arrow clip, which would be replaced with the blue diamond clip on later Maximas. The new features, in addition to thespeedline filler, included the tapered shape and the wide cap band.
This version was only made for about a year. Many Vac fans consider it the best of all possible Vac models, since it combinesthe most desirable Vac features. I can't say I disagree.
Correct 1937 date code on the barrel. Although it's hidden, the nib also has a 1937 date code.
I'd call the nib a medium point, but see the photos and writing samples. It has some wear to the platinum masking, but its two-tone quality can still be detected.
Excellent barrel transparency. Owner's name in barrel.
Restored and working with new diaphragm installed. Length is 5 5/16 inches.
The best Vac model in the best Vac color.
The writing samples are made using the pen itself, dipped inNoodler's BostonBrahmin Blackink. The paper is a Rhodia pad with 5mm squares.
