Perry Pictures Vintage 1930s Art Print 10" x 12" Portrait Washington Irving
In the 1930s, Eugene Ashton Perry, then the Master of the Center Grammar School in Malden, Massachusetts, discovered, as stated in his catalogue,
“the possibility of making and distributing half-tone reproductions of paintings, sculpture, architecture and selling them so reasonably that no one was too rich and no one was too poor to own a picture”.
And so, Mr. Perry went into the business of providing art to the masses, in the form of half-tone reproductions from photographs or steel engravings. He offered hundreds of different prints in One Cent, Two Cent, Four Cent and Ten Cent sizes – The price corresponding to the size of the print. I have been fortunate enough to acquire a large number of these original prints.
This is Perry’s Ten Cent Extra Size, which is 10 by 12 inches and printed on heavy, textured paper.
It features a portrait of Washington Irving.
The print in the photo is the one being offered, I invite you to have a good look before buying. It will be carefully packaged for shipment in a padded envelope, supported with cardboard inserts, so that it is delivered safely. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
