Photo Postcard Rppc, muzzle Dog Team Pull Wagon, wolfhound, children, oregon Coast ? For Sale
Our reserve is the opening offer. We will be listing another Tillamook RPPC as well as others of the area including Barview and Bayocean, two Coastal Ghost Towns. We will be listing 2 more Railroad related RPPCs as well as other interesting images.
This is another especially interesting antique Real Photo Postcard. This was with the group of Tillamook, Oregon Coastal RPPCs we purchased, so there is a chance this is also in the Tillamook area. There is no way of knowing for certain although a sign on the dog wagon may give a clue to researchers. It mentions an Ocean to Ocean dog event, so it is very possible the team is on the Oregon Coast. Four muzzled Wolfhounds are hitched to a wagon and are pulling a load of eight children. One child in back is just visible. Tents are to the right so this must be a campground. The sign announces that these Wolf Hounds will soon leave on an Ocean to Ocean trip, pulling a wagon. So they are probably at the Oregon Coast. We were unable to learn anything about a Ocean to Ocean Dog Team. You may have better luck. We are not dog experts but believe these may be Irish Wolfhounds. This breed is known for pulling carts and wagons. We welcome info from you dog experts. The photo is a lovely and rich brown and has great contrast. It is in very good condition with slightly bumped corner tips. If you turn the postcard to catch glare, you see some silvery sheen from the old photo printing process. Please notice there is some paper and glue residue on the back side. This was obviously glued into an album at some time in its life. We estimate this to be from about 1908 to 1910 or so, give or take a few short years. Whan an interesting scen of a Wolfhound pulled wagonload of children! Please email questions and we welcome info.
We pack with great care using heavy cardboard and will combine purchases to you shipping costs, but you MUST WAIT for our invoice in order to receive these savings. Please email any questions regarding packing, shipping, payment and description. Thank you.
