Playskool Pullman Sleep Dolly Sleep Dollhouse For Sale
Selling a pre 1938 Playskool Pullman Sleep Dolly Sleep Dollhouse. It is a toy train dollhouse, made of metal, that unfolds into a section of a pullman car with opposing seats, folding table, upper berth and porter's closet. It will snap closed to be stored or carried. It is painted a Pennsylvania sort of tuscan color- burgundy with the logo "Sleep Dolly Sleep" and "Playskool" in gold. Inside the compartment it has green cushions for the seats - 2 sets of 3 each. 2 green mattresses for making up the beds as well as 2 sheets, 2 blankets, and 2 pillows. There are 2 green pieces of a cardboard type material to cover the windows. To cover the compartment there are 3 green curtains and one small ladder stowed in the porter's closet. With this dollhouse comes one doll made of bisque? or china? She looks to be original to this dollhouse because the dress fabric and style are from the 1930's. Considering it's age it seems to be in good shape. There is wear and tear to the exterior of it. Refer to the pictures to see what blemishes there are. ".75 " is written on the door section that folds down and on the porter's closet door. Some of the paint has been rubbed off, showing metal, on the door. Both number marks look like they are made from a grease pencil? The top/carrying handle does not look orginial. The other leather piece ( to snap close the unit) looks original. The sheets were hand sewn onto the mattress but could be easily removed without damage. The windows are in great shape. No yellowing or haze. Measurements are: 11 1/2" wide x 9 3/4 " tall x 5" deep.
This dollhouse is how it was purchased years ago in an antique store. No other information is known about it i.e. what pieces originally came with it when it was purchased new. It came from an estate sale in Calif. While researching online we found an article about it. With that article was a picture of the instructions of how to make up the beds that was enclosed with it new. That will be sent with the dollhouse. Everything with it looks to be original but who knows. Great piece to add to a collection. Comes from a nonsmoking home.
