Pogo Daily Original Classic By Walt Kelly – Published 6/21/62:
You are offerding on a Walt Kelly original DailyPogo comic strip, published on June 21st, 1962.
"Don't tell me that rumor... It ain't polite to listen."
Kelly's main character Pogo and the ever-charming Mouse discuss some political goings on. But what draws me to this particular daily strip are the first three panels—great studies of Pogo and Mouse—leading to a perfect silhouette of the two making their way over the water via the fallen log. Stunning.
This strip is hand drawn and inked by Mr. Kelly, featuring Pogo and Mouse.
strip is in good shape with an even, minor off-white coloring from
age. It has the normal few pin holes, right at the top center border, used by
Kelly to hold in place while inking. The edge has some light smudges outside the art itself.
There is even a light finger print in black ink—that of the master himself? (See last photo, upper left-hand edge.) It's been folded vertically between the two panels, from when Kelly himself sent it to the syndication printers, which is hard to see when framed.
The artwork itself is hand brushed black ink over blue pencil. Signed "Walt Kelly".
