Pogo Sunday Original By Walt Kelly - Pogo & Peanie Brickle - 1965:
You are offerding on anoriginal SundayPogo comic strip, published on Sunday, October 24th, 1965, by the one and onlyWalt Kelly!"You notice the big use animals been put to in auto ads?"
In which Pogo listens to Peanie Brickle discuss the pros and cons of advertising puns. Overall a very funny strip, with great studies of Pogo Possum and Peanie Brickle the elephant.
The strip is in good overall shape for it's age, with a fairly even off-white coloring except for handling marks on the outer edge in places (which should be covered if a matte is used). The strip has the normal few pin holes around the border, used by Kelly to hold in place while inking. It has two short tears around an inch long each on the far left edge (see photos) which would probably fit under any matte when framed since they are well outside the actual art. It also has some discoloration, especially along the lower right outer border (see last photos), and a slight buckle to the paper on the left side, which is all but invisible when looking at the art straight on. In any case, the imperfections pretty much go away when framed under matte and glass it looks really great!
The artwork itself is hand brushed black ink over blue pencil. Signed "Walt Kelly".
The overall art paper size is approximately 24" by 17" (61 cm x 43 cm).
It will be shipped within a plastic wrap, two plywood sheets, and all that covered with new cardboard.
