This sale is from a private collector of Pilllin Pottery, original owner. It is in near new condition, signed on the back as shown. There is a small glaze chip, on side. Included is a original book written by her husband William Pillin, a poet. This owner, who personally met Mrs Pillin in Los Angeles in her studio in Los Angeles, has taken great care of the pieces she owns. She was a personal friend of the Artist.
Background: Mrs Pillin was a painter, and ceramist. Born in Szenstochowa, Poland on Sept. 1, 1909. Pillin immigrated to Chicago in 1924. She studied there at the AIC and Jewish Peoples Institute. She was based in Santa Fe, NM during the 1930s but made painting trips to California. Leaving Chicago in 1948, she settled in Los Angeles where she remained ( and where this owner met her)until her death on July 25, 1992. The Plate is 7.5 inches across and an inch high.
