About PAUL SADE (from his 2010 Obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle):
******Paul Sade 1922-2010 Dearly beloved sixty year husband of Eleanor passed away at his home in San Rafael May 9th. He is also survived by his son Ron, daughter in law Yvonne, daughter Sherry Patrizio and four grandsons, Justin, Grant, Carl, and Erik. Paul was born in Eastern Poland where he lost his parents, and 3 siblings to the Holocaust. He joined a small group of partisans and later went to the Russian army where he fought the Germans and Ukrainians for two and one half years. Subsequently Paul deserted the Russian Army with false papers. Via Germany, Paul came to Baltimore where he had many relatives and for a short time he worked for an uncle. After his friend Joe Pell arrived from Germany, the two headed for San Francisco, the Golden State. His first job in San Francisco was being a busboy at Compton's Cafeteria. After saving their money, Paul and Joe bought a home made ice cream store in San Francisco and later built their own ice cream store in Richmond, CA. After ten years of ownership, they sold the store. Paul and his wife, Eleanor, became successful builders of apartments and mobile home parks which they operated for many years. The Sades contributed very generously to many charitable causes. They also helped many relatives and friends who were less fortunate than they were. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions in Paul's name to Hospice by the Bay, Larkspur, CA or Hadassah, New York, NY.******Free shipping within the United States only.
