Post Office Door Bank #82 - Postal Door - Barn Wood - Eagle - 1920 For Sale
This door was made by Keyless Lock circa 1920. It's almost a true antique. Featured on the door is a flying eagle with a sunburst background. It's a great work of Art Nouveau. It's made of cast bronze. This bank is made with recycled barn wood. Most of the wood is Douglas fir salvaged from dismantled barns in the Pacific Northwest. A small percentage may bePonderosa pine. This is old growth wood with great grain and patina. These trees were typically over 100 years old when the barn was built and then were part of the barn for many decades. The wood comes complete with nail holes and other imperfections. It's my pleasure to save this wood and share its wonderful textures and colors with you. I finish the wood with lacquer to let the wood shine through. I guess you could say almost the whole bank is made from recycled/repurosed materials. All of the doors I use in these banks had many years of service in a Post Office and are made of bronze. Many of them are over 100 years old. I've rebuilt them, cleaned off the grime and got the locks working smoothly. The beauty of the doors is revealed. They are true works of art nouveau. After cleaning the window I add box number decals that are actual Post Office old stock decals. This old glass may have some chips it but, unless I mention otherwise, these will not be visible from the outside. If you want a box with a specific number I can change the number on the door for an additional $10 charge. There is a three digit limit unless I use a small decal. Then I can get 4 or 5 digits on the window. I bill separately for the number change. There is a coin slot in the top and the bank is about 5 inches wide, 6 inches high and 4 1/4 inches deep. The combination is included and taped to the bottom of the bank. They are the perfect gift for anyone, any age. Help a child learn to save, help an adult relive their past or just enjoy the bank as a conversation piece. You'll feel the history every time you use it.These are heavy so I ship in a medium flat rate box and charge actual shipping
