At first glance these two antique, 19th century Oil Paintings on Tin look typical and depict a 17th century gentleman smoking a clay pipe, near a warm fireplace, while another gentleman is trying to seduce a young barmaid with wine. Around the barroom are pottery jugs, early lighting and other everyday items. It is the background of these two scenes that makes these 19th century oil paintings unusual and a little vulgar. In the shadows of the background you can see the back of a man in each painting. Instead of describing what they are doing I’ll let the close-up photographs speak for themselves. From a distance both 6 5/8in by 8in medieval genre oil paintings look very decorative in their 11 3/4in by 13in frames. It’s not till you get close that you discover what’s going on in the background. I believe the artist, who has signed both paintings, was trying to shock or surprise the viewer. Both original paintings are signed by the artist. The signature looks like Dassiers or Damiers, but I am not sure. Both paintings are in perfect condition and they are listed together and without any reserve. Packages are usually shipped within 48 hours of receiving payment (excluding Saturday/Sunday) and most times are shipped out within 24 hours! Every package is sent with full insurance.

Most freight items are shipped via UPS Ground, however some are too large and will be shipped via SEKO Worldwide. Also, some freight items are too large for us to pack safely and so we send them to Providence Pack & Ship to be professionally packed. Please be sure to e-mail us for a quote so that you know how much this is going to cost before offerding.

US Buyers: Shipping costs for most items can be determined by the shipping calculator in the sale (Please view details below about calculator) and are shipped via UPS ground.  If you prefer USPS this is also an option.  If you prefer USPS, please contact us and we will make arrangements.   Any item that sells for over $250 must be sent with signature required.

International buyers:  Please be aware that you may incur a brokerage and/or customs fee upon delivery. Winning buyer is responsible for shipping & customs charges. We reserve the right to choose the carrier based on shipping method selected at time of payment. Any item that sells for over $250 will be sent Express Mail with FULL insurance.
