Pr. Wasp 318th Tng Cmd Class 6 1943 Graduation Wings Sterling Wasp Wings For Saleis for an Original WWII WOMEN AIRFORCE SERVICE PILOT (WASP) pinback Graduation wings from the 318th Training Command 1943 Class #6(Class 43-W-6) Graduation date of October 9, 1943. The Class started with 122 candidates and graduated 84. The wings are the original 3" (measured 2 15/16") Sterling and in VG+ condition. I obtained these wings from a Texas Collector some years ago and at the time he indicated in a letter that he had purchased the wings from a Texas estate andnamed the original WASP owner as last name as HALLOWAY(sp)? Unfortunately Ihave not been able to connect that name to the class 6 graduates butis the only information I have received regarding ownership.
Also included is a 2nd pair of wings, same size, pinback with the WASP shield and marked as Sterling. It is not made by Jostens that I can see but has an aged patina. The wings could have been custom madeduring WWII or a later pairawarded ata reunionwhich I am told did occur.
Also includedare 4 pages of correspondence between collector George W. Connell, Houston Texas and WASP member IMOGENE BARNES who was a graduate of Class 43W8. This correspondence was evidently part of George Connell's records as his letters are copies and WASP Barnes letters have her Original ink signature. Although this correspondence has no relation to the 43W6 wings it contains interesting WASP facts and 2 original WASP member signatures.
A great grouping, not easy to come by. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
