Pre-1922 Royal Copenhagen Owl & Mice Figurine By Christian Thomsen Model No.450:
Pre-1922 ROYAL COPENHAGEN OWL & MICE Figurine by Christian THOMSEN Model No.450Description:
This is the 2nd & last time of listing, there were over 50 watchers 1st time. I have reduced the opening offer. As per last time over 15 watchers in the 1st few hours. If the price is still to high will someone please email me & I will act accordingly. I just don't see the point of 50 people watching it again for the next 5 days with still no offers! You are offerding on a very attractive item. It is C1910(I think)ROYALCOPENHAGEN FIGURINE of an OWLlovinglingly looking at 3 small WHITEMICE. It was originally sculpted by the noted ARTISTChristian THOMSEN, it is signed CT on the base to the left of the owl but it did not show up in the photos 8 & 9. The MODELnumber is 450 which is impressed into the base, there is a makers mark in GREEN as well as the painters mark in BLUE. From my research I think that it is quite a rare model and not easy to find which makes the fact that the lady who owned it decided to make it into a lamp a little frustrating!!! She did however do a very neat job though and it does actually display well still. The GILTBRONZE base came off easily and I removed the glue, there is another little bronze flower for the cord to go though and I have not removed this. I presume her husband neatly drilled a hole through it! It has not cracked the porcelain but there is a small chip around the underside that I can see. I am sure it wasn't made like this although there was a dish variation that I came across. There is also a tiny fleabite to the middle mouses left ear(pictured). The hole is only approx 4mm across & the chip is small so it could be restored or just left as is(if it dosn't sell i will keep it as I love it!). I am not an expert on this type of thing so your comments would be welcomed and added to the listing. It weighs 429g with the bronze base or 353g by itself unpacked. It is approx 4 1/2" or 115mm in height. It would make a great gift or addition to your collection.
