President Andrew Johnson July 4th (1875?) Correspondence Letter New York Dying!
I stopped researching this after about an hour or so. If it's Andrew Jackson, then I would need to see if he was sick a year before he died, as he died in June. If it's Andrew Johnson, then it was only about 3 weeks before he passed away, but then it shouldn't be coming from New York City. If I were a betting man, I would say it was potentially a 175 year old fabrication crafted by someone that wasn't aware that Jackson passed in June and not July. I have no answers. If however, Andrew Johnson WAS in New York the first week of July then that would be very interesting indeed. I'm open to response on this!I lived on the East Coast for 20 years, most of that in New York City, and New Jersey. Some of that time though, I lived in the Appalachians up in the Poconos. While in the Poconos, I purchased the personal collection of letters and envelopes from a paper conservationist in East Stroudsburg, PA. Since returning to the Midwest, I continued for a number of years to collect vintage correspondence. I am now selling ALL of it. I will try and list everything to the best of my knowledge. If something doesn't ring true, or you have expertise in an area I do not, please let me know. I appreciate shared information greatly!
I will be posting about 100 pieces as I am able to this month, feel free to check them out, be safe and be well!
