Antique Cased Silver Gilt Sewing Set

French * Circa 1900s

This nice French necessaire is in a fitted case lined in silk and velvet. The 6 matching sewing tools include scissors,needle case, stiletto, bodkin, crochet hook and a thimble. Every piece except for the bodkin is marked with the French boar's head hallmark used for 800/1000 pure silver.

All of the tools are in excellent condition with no dents, repairs or other damage. They have scrolling leaf style designs. The thimble is about an American size 9 (16 mm diameter opening) and is crisp with no holes or damage. The little scissors (3 5/8" long) have sharp points and tight blades but need sharpening. The tools fit their spaces perfectly and look to be original to the set.The box is also in nice condition and it snaps closed properly with a push button latch. It measures 73/4" by 4".
