Primitive Folk Art Hand Woven Loom Selvage Rag Rug - Browns:
*******Shades of Brown Woven Selvage Rug******
This rug is my original design and all handmade. This pretty selvage rug was woven on my antique Union Loom using several different primitive colors of warp string including mustard, sage, cranberry, two different shades of blue, off white and brown. The rug itself is made of two different shades of brown.
The idea in hand weaving is that new warp is used by the loom and rags are used for the filling. The warp is a poly-cotton thread which is strong and durable. The rug is woven with atan poly cotton edging and shaggy edges from upholstery. Using these selvage strips makes a beautiful, soft, shaggy nap that contains many shades of brown.
The rug is nice and thick and feels very nice under your feet. These rugs are very durable and will last a long time. Some shedding will occur .You should hand wash and lay rug flat to dry.
The back of the rug looks the same as the front so it is reversible.
This rug is approximately 32 1/2 inches long (not including the fringe) by 28 inches wide making it the perfect size for any room and these rugs are wonderful when used as bath mats.
The last picture is of my loom loaded and ready to weave.
