As theprimitiveman, I enjoy using old materials to recreate items froman original American antique. Offered here is such a piece, a Wall Shelf and Spoon Rack,madeafteran American Folk Art original dating from the 1840's. Small wall shelves were originally used in early homesfor storing and displaying homegoods. This is a Wall Shelf which holds anddisplays your favoriteitemson the top shelf and spoons below.It ismadeof two kinds of woods: 1850's pine inOld Style Blue Paint and great Patina, and theshelf isSouthern Heart Pine. The piece is pegged and mortised. TheOld Style Blue Paint and character of the surface are fabulous. The twofront pieces have distinctive and different folky scalloped designs. Each opening of the lower rail is hand notched individually in order to hold each spoon and cutlery. It is easy to hang and remove each piece of silverware. I like to use hand selected plated early silverware found in almost all flea markets. The upper shelf is a nice size for your pewter, potteryor woodenpieces. This Wall Shelf measures32 inches wide by 14 inches high and 5 1/2inches deep. This sale is for the wall shelf only.
