For your consideration we have here a fine quality late 19c Chinese carved & pierced hardwood display stand produced in China sometime around c1870 to the c1890s for the export market. This is a good sized stand having the top's inner diameter of 5-1/8" where the vase or jar foot ring would be placed, with the top area having a flat surface with an engraved double line and a well done key fret design to the outside top rim having a nicely pierced tall collar. The skirt or apron is an amazing work of art with some of the finest carved and pierced openworked design showing detailed tiny leaves, open flower heads and buds in the midst of a complicated display of delicate vines and stems with four legs split at the foot resembling the thick base of the vine. The stand has a type of ebonized finish with the top area being lighter where the vase or jar sat and there is a old surface patina with the entire stand being in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, losses or repairs.
