The portrait is of an older woman...circa 1820...possibly earlier...her face is age worn, yet still sweet and pleasant...she wears wire glasses...a plain black dress with a white shawl and white bonnet. One arm rests on a table. It is a fairy simple, straightforward piece as all of Phillips pieces are. The piece comes framed in a modern frame that displays the piece perfectly. The frame is a modern frame with some chips and dings. But it is sturdy and displays the piece beautifully.
