RARE 1860 Civil War NEW JERSY MILITIA Cavalry Saber

Gents (and Ladies) Here offered is an EXTREMELY SCARCE – if not RARE--TRUE ---NEW JERSEY MILITIA SWORD! --- The overall length of the sword is 40-1/2” with a 34-3/4” double fullered blade, with broad fuller stopped at ¾” from guard. The brass guard is standard 3 tine basket AND LACKS ANY SIGN WHATEVER OF U. S. MILITARY INSPECTORS INITIALS.—The twisted brass wire wrappings have been re-wrapped over the darkened wooden handles, long devoid of their original leather covering. There are a few “flea-bites” to the cutting edge of the otherwise crisply defined and beautifully age toned blade, WHICH IS CLEARLY AND SHARPLY STAMPED ONLY -- “N. J.” and NO MAKERS NAME! -----Not like those swords CLAIMING TO BE New Jersey Militia because they were marked –“Emerson & Silver – Trenton New Jersey” ---The 37-1/4” scabbard is overall sound with a couple of VERY minor “dings” and with a lot of the original “silvering” still apparent.
