The Tutor for the Highland Bagpipe, with a Selection of Marches, Quicksteps, Strathspeys, Reels and Jigs, Amounting to One Hundred Tunes by William McKay in 1841. 1843 corrected and improved by Angus McKay piper to Her Majesty 1866, 5th edition. 60 pages. We know William Mackay from this book (the first edition of which appeared in 1840 as The complete tutor for the great highland bagpipe), and from the records of the Highland Society's piobaireachd competitions held in Edinburgh in the early years of the 19th century. He was piper to the Celtic Society, and as such served as one of the three pipers when King George IV landed at Leith at the beginning of his famous visit to Scotland in 1822.
