RARE 18TH-19TH C TIN HANGING THREE CANDLE CHANDELIER IN OLD SAGE GREEN PAINT
Description:
A GREAT EARLYDECORATED AND PAINTED THREE ARM CHANDELIER or CANDLE HOLDER. American,or French,circa 1790-1830 in NICE OLD PAINTEDSURFACEWITH WONDERFUL EMBOSSED DECORATION.
THE BEST EARLY FORM WITHTHREE THIN SWEEPING ARMS ENDING IN DIMINUTIVE ROLLED CANDLE HOLDERS AND DELICATE CRIMPED DRIP TRAYS. THE CENTRAL DUAL CONE BODY HAS GREAT EMBOSSED DECORATION.
THE SURFACE IS AN OLD LATE 19TH CENTURY SAGE GREEN PAINT OVER AN EARLIER PAINT.
ORIGINAL SAND WEIGHTED DESIGN. GREAT SEAMED AND SOLDERED CONSTRUCTION THROUGHOUT. RETAINS IT'S ORIGINAL IRON LINK RING HANGING CHAIN WITH THE ORIGINAL S HOOK.
A WONDERFUL ANDRARE SMALL SIZE.
TIN CHANDELIERS FROM THIS EARLY PERIOD ARE EXTREMELY RARE. There is a similar example exhibited at the Museum at Old Sturbridge Village that has a similar paint history.
The condition isvery niceand the surface nice. There is a small area of paint touch-up as shown in the last photo. Other paint losses throughout but still very stable.
There are NO repairs or restorations.
