Finely rendered details of surface of smallship (tapering and pointed at both ends):deck is scored and shows various small devices and a pavilion-like structure. Sits low in rough water between fort andshore with large, beautifully spreading tree.Low hills in background.Artistically superb scene contained within relief frame of ovalmedallion surrounded by curling relief devices.“JUBE, 220 BOWERY” bottom right in banner under portrait (under glass,on the ornate gold frame). Distinguishedforty-something gentleman with well-trimmed moustache and hair, tinted cheeks,very slight smile, checkered cravat.Uncommon dark blue velvet lining with embossed design in lighter blue isloose and just needs to be glued back in.There is a small chip to the tip of the top left inner corner of thethermoplastic. Hidden when closed andonly the eagle-eyed carefulness of the one of us responsible for spotting conditionissues was able to see it: it looks likean irregular roughening of the black tip.
