Up forsaleis thisbeautiful 19th century sterling silver triptych icon. I am not sure if it is Russian or more probably Greek Orthodox. There are no markings on this piece. It does show good age.Closed it measures 6 5/8" across at the base and 12 1/4" tall. When opened it measure 12 1/4" across. The wood has a beautiful worn patina to it. The silver embossed religious scenes are wonderfully rendered. Overall this icon is in very good condition. The doors do not quite close all the way due to age shrinkage of the wood. There are several areas where the silver is worn through to the gesso beneath the silver. A wonderful triptych icon with beautiful images in sterling silver.
