Rare 19th 20th C Moonshiner Antique Forged Iron Weathervane Folk Art Trade Sign For Sale
24" Wide x 18" High 4 lbs 13 ozI'm Very pleased to offer this just amazing rare piece of American history!.Most commonly pieces like this are associated with southern colonies, but surprisingly I found this rare, and great example in upstate NY during my recent trip to visit family. This piece is certainly a tell tale piece of American folk art! Unfortunately I don't have much information on this other then the fact I purchased it from a collector in upstate New York that also explains the fact it is likely originally from the late 1800's to early 1900's likely southern region America. From the images as you can see this piece shows two period dressed men enjoying a glass strait from the still. All hammered sheet iron and reinforced iron strapping for structure. Both very typical of period iron weathervanes and trade signs.Such a great early surface revealing several colors of paint and wear. All sales starting at $.99!
