We recently found this amazing antique doll at an estate sale in our hometown in Maryland. Her previous owner had collected many beautiful old dolls. This gorgeous German doll is quite wonderful and was our favorite! She was made with one of the most beautiful molds of all the early German dolls. This rare closed mouth Simon & Halbig #949 bisque doll dates to the earlier years of this mold number which were designed with spectacular paperweight eyes, closed mouths and one dimensional eyebrows. She was made circa 1880-1900.Our fabulous young lady has a wonderful Simon & Halbig head and a fully jointed composition and wood ball body. Her head is marked S 15 H #949. This doll is an excellent example of the early #949 mold which was made to compete with the French Dolls.She came with a handwritten note tucked in one shoe. The note reads, \"German S&H 949, 261/2\"closed mouth, replaced wig, eye chip, $3250.00\". We will include the note with the doll.This beautiful doll has a lovely bisque head and a fully jointed composition body. Her charming bisque face is very finely made with pretty working blue paperweight sleep eyes and flat brown eyebrows. She has finely painted lower lashes and upper lashes. Her eyes seem to be the original blue paperweight eyes. Our girl has pretty rosy chubby cheeks and orange red pursed lips with a darker red outline. She has a delightful close lipped smile and a cute little dimple in her chin.

We will provide two wigs with this doll. This brunette wig is an older replacement. It is styled in long curls and looks nice with her dark eyebrows. It is matted from age. This is the wig our lady was wearing when we acquired her. Herwig comes off easily, and we will stuff her head to protect her for safe shipping.

This newer blonde wig (a synthetic) is elaborately styled with braids, tight curls in the front and on top and lovely antique style rolled curls in the back. Our elegant lady looks beautiful with both hair styles.This adorable doll has pierced ears. We added newer earrings and will include them with her. (They come out easily so we will pack them separately.) Her sweet face is just wonderful. One of the prettiest we have seen!This pretty young girl is wearing a charming delicate white handmade antique or vintage dress.

It is trimmed with rows of beautiful old lace. It is also decorated with newer tiny pink flowers. This lovely dress fastens with tiny buttons in the back and looks just precious on her!Under her gorgeous dress she is wearing an antique or vintage slip with rows of delicate pintucking and lace.

Her lace trimmed bloomers are antique or antique style.

Her white socks and shoes are newer.

We also include vintage or antiquewhite slippers, whichare hand crocheted. We added the ribbon ties.

This beautiful large doll appears to have her original chunky style composition/wood body and limbs. She is jointed at her shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees and she can hold a pose with her arms and legs and can sit up nicely when propped.The coloring is very nice. She may have been repainted or touched up at some time. Her body is in Good to Very Good Antique Condition with some spots and cracks. It has the usual wear and tear from age especially around her knee joints.There are some repairs on her legs, a crack down the side of one calf and chips on her heels and toes.Her fingers have the red outlines on them. The outlines on one hand appear to have been retouched. The eyesappear to have been repaired and reattached at some point.There is a tiny chip near one eye. Her lovely blue eyes open and close nicely.

SIZE Our charming bisque girl measures about 26 inches from head to toe.CONDITION This wonderful antique doll is in Very Good Gently Displayed Antique Condition. She has a gorgeous smiling face with no hairlines, cracks or crazing. Her eyes appear to be original. They may have been repaired and reattached. There is a tiny chip on the inside of one eye near the red eye dot and a chip in the paint under her wig. Her vintage replacement wig is curly and looks very nice on her. She has some wear to her composition body as mentioned above. Her antique or vintage lace dress and undergarments are lovely and look perfect on her. She displays quite magnificently!

We are including the cost of postal.insurance, which we will purchase, in our shipping charge.

PAYMENT: As required by , we list only PayPal as a means of payment.SHIPPING: We are usually able to ship within 1 to 3 days of payment verification. We ship through the United States Postal Service, and we try to offer our customers the most appropriate postage options for each item. We obtain a tracking number for each mailing.SHIPPING CHARGES: Our basic shipping charge is set to cover postage and shipping materials, plus a small handling charge. We purchase postal.insurance for more expensive items, and requires Signature Confirmation delivery for items costing $250 or more. We add these costs to the total shipping charge for sale items that we think might attract larger offers. If a shipping charge estimate is too high, we refund the appropriate amount to the customer after we have shipped the item and verified the actual cost.

COMBINED SHIPPING: We sometimes specify combined shipping discounts with our listings, but we will offer such discounts in many other cases even when not pre-quoted. Assuming that multiple items can be appropriately shipped in one box, we begin with the charge for the heaviest item and add between $1 and $5 for extra items, depending on weight and additional packing material needed. The added charge could be more for unusually heavy or large items. International customers: With so many different postal rates, we cannot quote discounts ahead of time, but we do apply the appropriate discount at the time of the invoice.INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: offerding from international customers is welcome!
