Comes with the original documentation and certificate of authenticity too!Along with the bolts/brackets to hang it (original ones).Unique timepiece as weight driven movement inside the ball rotates the time around ball to indicate time. To reset, simply push ball back up to the top. Based on a classic mid 1700's design. Clock measures 29 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 7".
Crafted of solid mahogany, sterling silver and hand worked brass, and richly embellished with intricate art. Movement by Thwaits and Reed of London, clockmakers to Royalty since 1740. Actual size is 30" high x 5-5/8" wide x 7-7/16" deep. The Royal Geographical Society's "The Sir Francis Drake Falling Ball Clock" was offered by invitation only in 1981 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Sir Francis Drakes circumnavigation of the world. All original documentation, instructions, and certificate of authenticity dated January 5, 1981 will be included. The original issue price as purchased from the Royal Geographical Society was $1250.
