RARE ANTIQUE 18TH C BOLIVIAN SPANISH COLONIAL SILVER MATE CUP & BOMBILLA STRAW
I may have two days of listings this week so please check again on Friday just in case. I will be selling a very large number of interesting antiques including tribal art, Chinese, Islamic, Indian and European antiques. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in US Dollars.
This is a lovely piece of Spanish Colonial silver dating to the late 18th or early 19th Century. It is a Bolivian mate cup with wrigglework style engraved decoration to the body, an applied bird to one side and handle of typical form for this period and region to the other. The bombilla straw is also beautifully made with a bird to each side of the straw (one head missing) and double twist to the stem. This is a fine piece of silver which although unmarked tests as silver and is probably of a very good grade although my acid kit is not precise. It would be a lovely additional to a collection of Spanish Colonial silver and I am selling it at a very low starting price and with .
Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions Very good overall condition. The base of the cup needs a little straightening out but this is an easy job and the bombilla is missing one bird head - no other damage.
The cup alone stands about 4.6" / 11.7cms tall to the top of the birds head and weighs approximately 140g. The bombilla is about 8" / 20.2cms long and weighs about 40g. My digital scales are fairly accurate but please don't email me if I am one or two grams out.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 27TH MARCH so please make payment as early as possible. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for.
Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
UK: 1st Class Recorded Delivery (insured to £50 GBP only): $7.20 USD.
UK: Special Delivery: $11.39 USD.
Europe: Royal Mail international signed for (includes full insurance): $19.17 USD.This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country).
U.S and rest of the world: Royal Mail international signed for (includes full insurance): $24.04 USD. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance. Please do not ask me to falsify customs documents, thank you.
Where possible I will of course combine shipping for multiple purchases (however if, for example, you win a walking stick and a box of some description this wouldn't be very practical!). ***Any import duties or taxes applicable are payable by the Buyer. Please enquire with postage queries, requirements or any other questions you may have prior to offerding.***
Payment Details (Important: Please Read)
Rest Of The World: PayPal only.
In the event of a recorded/traceable and insured item going missing in the post I will do everything in my power (provide proof of postage and evidence of value, etc.) to assist in obtaining a full refund from the postal service involved.
