RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN "EUROPEAN SUBJECT" CUP & SAUCER 18TH C.
sale isa fine and rare Chinese export porcelainEuropean subject cup and saucer dating to the 18th century, Qianlong period. The cup and saucer are finely painted in grisaille, gold, and flesh tone enamels with a central scene of a semi clad woman with baby at her breast anda European man who seems to be holding a glass of wine up as if in a toast, an interesting subject. The cup and saucer both have some small fleabites and frits to the edges, the saucer has a faint 3/4 inch glaze line from the edge, and there is enamel wear to the clouds in the sky on the cup and glaze wear in the well of the saucer (faint circular scratches only seen in glancing light), from age, use, and stacking wear. Sounds like a lot but the cup and saucer display very well as can be seen from the photos. The saucer measures 4.75 inches diameter or about 12 centimeters and the cup is 3 inches diameter or about 7.6 centimeters. A rare cup and saucer for your collection of Chinese European subject porcelain.
