RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE MING CARVED JADE TWIN HANDLED DRAGON CUP
I may have two days of listings this week so please check again on Friday just in case. I will be selling a very large number of interesting antiques including tribal art, Chinese, Islamic, Indian and European antiques. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in US Dollars.
This is one of many very fine Chinese antiques I am selling this week so please view my other sales as well. This is a superb Chinese carved jade cup which is almost certainly a Ming example dating to the 17th Century. It is carved from a single piece of genuine jade (cannot be scratched with a knife) of good celadon tone with russet and black inclusions and superb twin handles in the form of chilong, skillfully making use of the colour of the jade (I particularly like the black around the tails). Another good detail are the eyes of the Chilong, one of them appears to be blinking and I am sure this is a deliberate effect and cannot have been easy to achieve - please view all the way down the listing as I have included many photos including details of this at the end. The cup is raised on a well carved foot and the whole piece is in very good overall condition with a fine finish - see condition report and photos below. The carved wooden stand is also very fine and early in date and the cup fits it very well making this a superb and rare opportunity for the collector. I am selling it at a very low starting price and with .
In order to be fair to all I do not do buy it nows so please do not email me with offers. I also do not make second chance offers at the end of an sale so please bear this in mind. Thank you.
** Please note: My photos are taken with a good quality digital camera and my computer is one of the most colour accurate models on the market however there can always be a slight difference between what I see on my computer and what you see on yours and, with jade and hardstone in particular, I would like all my customers to bear this in mind when coming to offer, thank you. Please do not ask for a 'Buy It Now' price as I do not end my sales early. Thank you.
Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions Very good overall condition. Some tiny chips around the rim as photographed and one or two chips to the body from when it was made (possibly where it was gripped to be carved).
It measures about 5" / 12.7cms across the handles and stands about 4" / 10.2cms tall including the stand.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 24TH JULY to MONDAY 29TH JULY so please make payment as early as you are able and if possible within 3 days. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for.
Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
UK: Special Delivery: $14.34 USD.
Europe: Royal Mail international signed for (full insurance): $21.47 USD. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country).
U.S and rest of the world: Royal Mail international signed for (full insurance): $29.14 USD. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance. Please do not ask me to falsify customs documents, thank you.
Where possible I will of course combine shipping for multiple purchases (however if, for example, you win a walking stick and a box of some description this wouldn't be very practical!). ***Any import duties or taxes applicable are payable by the Buyer. Please enquire with postage queries, requirements or any other questions you may have prior to offerding.***
Payment Details (Important: Please Read)
Rest Of The World: PayPal only.
In the event of a recorded/traceable and insured item going missing in the post I will do everything in my power (provide proof of postage and evidence of value, etc.) to assist in obtaining a full refund from the postal service involved.
***Finally, thank you for taking a look at my sale and please have a look at the other antiques I am saleing this week including a fine Mangbetu figure; an excellent Zulu status staff and several knobkerries; a rare coquilla nut snuff box; a superb chinese Ming dynasty jade twin handled cup; a very good Japanese Kobe toy and one for repair; a great boxwood netsuke; a Tabwa figural staff; an old Ibo figure; a Fijian ula throwing club; Aboriginal boomerangs, message sticks; 2 Kuba cups; unusual Maori carvings; Spanish colonial silver and many more interesting antiques from around the world.***
Here are a few photos of the faces where you can clearly see the eyes have been carved differently so that one looks as if it is blinking.
