Rare Antique Georgian Gold Cased Mens Moonstone Signet Ring C1820, Size O1/2 7.5 For Sale
An ornate gentleman's gold cased (probably over brass) Georgian signet ring, suitable for wear on the ring or little finger. The gold (tested minimum 9ct) outer casing to this ring is of a thick gauge, allowing it to be profusely decorated around the shoulders, leading to a central cabouchon moonstone set in a square mount.
Made in the ancient Roman style which had become quite fashionable in the early 19th Century, this ring was made circa 1820 and fulfilled the growing demand for jewels based on designs from antiquity.
It will be sent in a non-related antique ring box - as seen.
An ornate and very interesting mans ring in good condition considering its substantial age. There is wear to the gold casing around the edge of the shank and to each corner of the square mount, all commensurate with geniune age and use, however you have to look very closely to see any problems. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
