Item: - Rare AntiqueGeorgianSilverMote Spoon

Description: -This is aSuperb and rare Antique Solid Silver Mote Spoon dating from around 1760. The Mote spoonis believedto have been primarilyused for straining motes/tea leaves from tea bowls. The spike was purportedly used for cleaning out clogged up teapot spouts. The spoons maker mark is rubbed.

Assay: - Sterling Silver

Date: -circa 1760

Period: -19th Century.

Maker: -Makers mark indistinguishable

Measurement: - The spoon measures13.1 cm in length.

Weight: - 8.4 grams /0.27 troy ounces

Condition: -The Mote Spoon is in good antique condition. Surface scratches commensurate with age. Slightly mishapen spike (perhaps caused through intended usage), towards the end of handle. The spoon weight 7.9grams. The pierced bowl is in good condition having lost none of its shape. Makers mark is rubbed. Please see photographs for confirmation of condition.
