Rare Antique Repousse Sterling Silver Match Safe Vesta For Sale
This is a rare Edwardian Repousse Sterling Silver Match Safe Vesta with heavy Art Nouveau Influences of Tuips and SunFlowers entwined. The method of Decoration is called Repousse which means "pushed out" . The SilverSmith works with hammer and punches and without cutting the metal crafts the desired design. This Vesta was made by FS Gilbert "Marks "G" of Attleboro Mass in business from 1904 to 1910 The Vesta measures approz 6.5cms by 4cms and weighs 26 grams. The condition is very good with only 2 small dings of the corners ( appears part of the Repousse Work) The Lid does not "Snap" shut but it does close with a "Clip" and remains shut when handling. Overall a wonderful Sterling Silver Repousse Vesta from the USA CIRCA 1904 to 1910. This is from my personal collection and would rate as 8 out of 10. .
