Rare Atwater Kent 12c Breadboard Radio - Original, 1924, Very Nice:
$670

For sale is an Atwater Kent Model 12C Breadboard radio. This particular model is a No. 4910 according to the pink label underneath. Nearby, the number "3848" is stamped into the wood. I believe this is the largest and last Breadboard style model made by Atwater Kent. The 12Cwas the only six tube breadboard made and sold for $105 in 1924. The 12Crequires 6 tubes and featured an additional audio stage to drive a horn speaker (not present or included). The Breadboard measures 34" wide by 10"deep. Atwater Kent also sold 12C kits to be assembled at home. The kits did not have an identifyingtag underneath and are not as desirable today as factory-built Breadboard Radios. Conditionwise, all the Bakelite components (controls, dial faces, knobs, etc.) are in very nice condition with no chips, cracks, or any readily visible damage. The dial controls and switchesmove normally andfreely within their ranges. The windings areneatly wound, tight, and not frayed. There is some very light superficial oxidation to the metal “collars” which secure the various components to the board. The breadboard itself is in excellent condition with no damage and having its original patina. The radio is all original as far as I can tell. There is no evidence ofany modifications or repairs to the components or wood board. The two original paper tags underneath are present and in good condition except for some dogearing on the Warranty tag. All of the wiring underneath looks original and complete. There is about 8+ feet of the original gold cloth coveredcord before you get to the wire ends for hook-up. Several of the individual wires are marked for the various battery connections. Five 01A and One 00-A tubes that tested “good” (but not guaranteed) on mytube testerare included. This is a great item from the early years of radio. Finding rare models in this condition doesn't happen very often. These type radios are not my specialty but please ask any questions and I will do my best to answer. Good Luck
