Rare Austro-hungarian Silver Art Nouveau Pot:
This is arare and unusual silver Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau pillpot with a silver-gilt interior.On topof the lid there are two pretty cabochon stones - one blue and one deep pink. These are probably paste though possibly a sapphire and ruby but I am not a gemmologist and not tested. An abstractdecorative engraving is swirled around and joining the stones. All over the pot there is alight hammered finish often used during the arts and crafts period.The insides of the pot have a gold gilt finish and the inside rim of the pot is markedfor the city of Prague with import marks for the period between 1891 and 1901.Silver mark 800 for continental silver standard. Couple of very tinydings barely noticeable underside and back mentioned only for accuracy.The hinge is finely made, fits flush with no repairs. Measures5.0 cms /2 ins in diameter and approximately2.5 cms / 1 in in depth.This isa beautiful tactile potand will appeal to collectors.
